John William Akstin, Sr., 89, of Middleboro passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Royal Megansett nursing home in North Falmouth.
Born December 22, 1931 in Brockton, MA he was the son of the late John A. and Martha (Juckubauski) Akstin.
He was raised and educated in Brockton and was the former owner of the former Cape Way Wholesale Nursery in Middleboro. John started the business with a wheel barrel, shovel and work ethic that was second to none. His vision turned into a successful business where he worked side by side with his sons and daughter in harmony for almost 40 years. "He always was a happy man and loved life. There wasn't a day we didn't laugh together. He was a smart businessman, loving dad, grandpa and great grandpa always putting his family first. Customers loved to talk to John and were incredibly drawn to his personality, smile and witty sense of humor. He was a man of integrity, kindness and selflessness.
Material things were not important to John, and he taught his family the value of hard work. We will miss you for the rest of our lives and hope family and friends can live up to your lifetime of achievement and character."
