Obituary

John R. Berksza John R. Berksza , 79, of Hollywood, Florida and formerly of Brockton, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Florida under the care of his family and hospice. He was the husband of Lena (Mantello) Berksza. Born November 18, 1930 in Brockton, he was the son of the late John M. Berksza and Florence (Strangis) Berksza. John owned and operated a successful Barber shop in Brockton for many years before embarking on his Insurance career with Metropolitan Life where he worked for 25 years. He was a repeat member of the President's Club for outstanding sales production. Retiring in the mid-nineties, he and his wife Lena settled in Hollywood, Florida, frequently traveling back to Brockton area to visit with his children, nine grandchildren and as well as his many lifelong friends. John was a Lifelong member of D.W. Fields Golf Course; he was an MIAA High School Football Referee who worked many important games including Mass. Schoolboy Superbowls, and also a MIAA High School Basketball Referee. He was a longtime head referee/official of the Brockton Youth Football Leagues. He was a member of the French National Club in Brockton. John will always be remembered for his turn of a phrase and ability to make us all laugh. He is survived by his wife, Michelina "Lena" (Mantello) Berksza; his children, Paula Berksza Donnelly and her husband Brian of Weymouth, John M. Berksza and his wife Lydia of Easton, Maria Berksza Loffredo and her husband Vincenzo of Stoughton, and Michael Berksza and his wife Lauren of Easton; his brother Raymond Berksza and his wife Patricia of Hot Springs, Arkansas; he is also survived by nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Saturday, March 27th at 9:00AM thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Friday from 5:00-8:00 PM.
