Online Obituaries John Joseph Campbell, Jr. formally of Brockton and Abington MA passed away peacefully on October 17th, 2015 at Joannes Hospice House in Bonita Springs, FL at the age of 82. He resided in Naples FL where he enjoyed many wonderful years of retirement. John graduated from Brockton High School and received his bachelor's degree from The College of the Holy Cross in 1954 and a masters degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University. He served in the United States Army and received the Good Conduct Medal. John became a Probation Officer in Brockton District Court in 1966 becoming the Chief of Probation in 1978 to 1993. John was born an only child on Brett St., in Brockton MA in 1932 and was the first in his family to attend college. He was a man of gifted intellect and quick wit who found his service to humanity in the halls of Brockton District Court and his serenity on the shores of Saquish Beach. He enjoyed travel, fishing, reading, sports and celebrating life with family and friends. John was a lifelong Democrat, read two newspapers a day, comics first, and was an enthusiastic Jimmy Buffet fan. He leaves behind his loving family to join his beloved wife Janet in heaven where he is teaching Gods choir the new hymn Cheeseburger in Paradise. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. He is predeceased by his wife Janet. He is survived by his five children; Dr. John J. Campbell, III and his wife Karen of Cumberland ME, David T. Campbell of Norton MA, Fr. Robert E. Campbell, O Praem of Albuquerque NM, Daniel L. Campbell and his wife Tara of Duxbury MA and daughter Caroline M. Campbell of Estero FL. He is survived by his loving grandchildren, Michaela, Liam, Declan, Curran and Tanner Campbell, and Benjamin and Nathaniel Brisky. He is also survived by his dearest cousin Karen Kelley of Brockton MA. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Saturday, October 31st at 9:00AM thence to St. Patrick Church, 335 Main St., Brockton where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours Friday, October 30th from 4:00PM 8:00PM.
