John B. Cerce
, 90 years, of Brockton, died peacefully on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Marion (Spadea) Cerce of Brockton.
Born November 24, 1917 in Brockton, John was the son of the late James Cerce and Assunta (Iarocci) Cerce.
Following his graduation from Brockton High School, John began his career in the shoe industry with the Field and Flint Company. He then moved on to the Stone and Tarlow Company and finished his career with Foot Joy. John was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army on the frontlines of the South Pacific. He was a lifelong Brockton resident.
John was an original member of the Conte Memorial Club serving fifty-five years and becoming an honorary voting member.
John enjoyed many trips to Bermuda with his wife and was an avid vegetable gardener. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
John was the loving husband of Marion (Spadea) Cerce of Brockton; the loving father of Patrick V. Cerce and his wife Dianne (Restivo) Cerce of Canton and Catherine A. Arnone and her husband Peter Arnone of West Bridgewater; he was the loving grandfather to Matthew and Genna Cerce and Aislyn and Brittany Arnone. He was the brother of the late Pasquale and Guido Cerce.
Funeral Information
Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday, March 7th at 8:00AM thence to St. Edith Stein/St Edward Church, 71 East Main St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 9:00AM. Interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:15AM. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Thursday 5:00-8:00PM.
