John J. Crawford
, 65, of Brockton, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 16, 2010 at his home in Brockton. He was the devoted husband of Helen E. (Strojny) Crawford for 42 years.
Born June 13, 1944 in Brockton he was the son of the late Chalmers G. Crawford and Catherine A. (Maloney) Crawford. Raised in Brockton he graduated from Brockton High School and then received his Master Degree in Criminal Justice from Stonehill College.
A Lifetime Community Servant, John retired from the Brockton Police Department after 33 decorated years of service. He received the Medal of Honor for saving a persons life.
John was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed TGA Nautilus, boating, golfing, fishing and watching TV. He was a lifelong Brockton resident and served as a alter boy at St. Margaret's Church.
John is survived by his loving wife, Helen E. (Strojny) Crawford; his loving children, Kristen T. Ruggeiro and her husband Matthew of Middleboro and Onset and Coleen M. Cullen-Crawford and her wife Jennifer of Stoughton; he was the dearest grandfather "puppy" of Hailey, Bella and Matthew all of Middleboro; devoted brother to William Crawford, Charles Crawford, Catherine Griffin, Robert Crawford, and James Crawford; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was the brother of the late Brian and Joanne Crawford.

Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday at 8:00AM thence to St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 9:00AM. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Wednesday 4:00-8:00PM.
