John DeCosta, Jr., 83, of West Bridgewater passed away peacefully April 21, 2021. He was the loving husband of Carole Ann (Johnson) DeCosta.
Born January 2, 1938 in Falmouth, MA he was the son of the late John Sr. and Elsie (Motte) DeCosta. He was the brother of the late Sally M. DeCosta, Shirley A. DeCosta and Thomas R. DeCosta.
John was a Self Employed Entrepreneur starting his business in 1963 as Johnny's Saw Sharpening Shop in Falmouth, MA where he raised his family. He later relocated the family to Brockton to give his 2 deaf children a better chance for schooling. The family eventually settled in West Bridgewater, as his business evolved into John DeCosta, Jr., Inc. Lock & Security. Through John's commitment and hard work ethic the business became very successful and is known for its quality workmanship.
He was a member of the Associated Locksmiths of America, Massachusetts Locksmiths Association, Yankee Security Convention, Inc. & the Taunton Rifle & Pistol Club.
John was a Spiritual man. He enjoyed reading books, music, camera's, ham radio, Bonsai trees and trains.
In addition to his wife Carole, he is survived by his children; Daniel of Tijeras, New Mexico, Andrew and his wife Donna of Westbrook, ME, Joseph and his wife Elizabeth of Berkley, Peter and his wife Debra of Taunton, Catherine Essex and her husband Robert of St. Augustine, FL and Cynthia Danksewicz and her husband Alfred of Bridgewater; beloved grandchildren; Nicholas, Paula, Matthew, Brittany, Mariah, Colin, Julia, Jenna Rose, Barbara, Elsie, Alfred III, Ivabella, Robert, Henry, and great grandchild, Adam. As well as several nieces, nephews and extended families.
Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 So. Main St.,(Rt.28) West Bridgewater on Tuesday, April 27th at 9:00am thence to St. Ann's Church, 103 No. Main St., West Bridgewater where a funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10:00am. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Calling hours Monday from 4:00 to 6:30pm.
