John P. Giannakoulis
, 69, of Brockton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, October 12, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center after being stricken ill at home. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Harris) Giannakoulis for 45 years.
Born April 20, 1941 in Stoughton, he was the son of the late George Giannakoulis and Anna (Christopoulos) Giannakoulis. Raised is Stoughton, he graduated from Stoughton High School in 1959 where he was the Captain of the Football team. He then went to Boston University and received a Master's Degree from Bridgewater State College.
John started his teaching career in 1965 in Mansfield and then worked for the Brockton School System, where he taught Science at South Junior High School for 33 years before retiring.
John was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton where he served as Past President.
John was an avid golfer belonging to Dennis Highlands and Dennis Pines. He was an avid football fan and most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He has been a Brockton resident for over 45 years and enjoyed summering in Dennis.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Patricia (Harris) Giannakoulis; his loving children, Tasha J. Pavlidis and her husband Nick of Watertown and Peter G. Giannakoulis and his wife Meg of Sandwich; his grandchildren, John and Peter Pavlidis, Ashley, Mia, Elyse and Peter "PJ" Giannakoulis; his brother, Paul Giannakoulis and his wife Marylou of Dighton; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Helen Studley.

Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Saturday, October 16th at 9:00AM followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Friday 4:00-8:00PM.
