Obituary

John F. Mitchell age 88 of Brockton died Wednesday October 6, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Jeanette (Chernicki) Mitchell. John was born in Boston and raised in Randolph a son of the late Albert and Mary (McCoubrey) Mitchell. He had lived in Brockton since 1960 formerly residing in Jamaica Plain. John was a WWII veteran having served in the US Navy aboard the USS Santa Fe in the Pacific Theatre.
John retired from the US Postal Service after working many years in the Jamaica Plain branch. In his free time John enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He is survived by a son James M. Mitchell of Brockton and two grandchildren Gregory J. Mitchell and Kerry Ann Mitchell. He was the brother of Marie Keith of Colorado, Robert A. Mitchell of Massachusetts and the late Albert H. Mitchell.
Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 10 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 5-8 pm.
