John P. Nasios, 79, of Holbrook, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton.
He was the husband of Stephanie (Matsoukopetros) Nasios.
Born in Selassia, Laconia in Greece January 8, 1934, he emigrated to the U.S. at
age 18, and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea. Following Honorable
Discharge he returned to Greece to marry his sweetheart Stephanie
(Matsoukopetros) Nasios on July 6, 1958. They returned to the U.S. and resided
briefly in Framingham in the company of many dear friends and koumbaroi. They
settled in Holbrook and together they raised two daughters, Jeannie and
Penny. Together with his wife, John owned and operated John's Drive In, in
Holbrook, then the JLC Restaurant on Main Street in Brockton for 15 years.
Thereafter they ran Stephanie's Cleaners, also in Brockton, for 13 years.
John's entire world revolved around his loving family. He is survived by his
adoring wife, Stephanie, of 55 years; daughter Jeannie and son-in-law David
Cathcart of Bridgewater; daughter Penny and son-in -law Jon Buterbaugh of North
Easton; loving grandchildren, Andrew, Dion, Ariana, Peter, Andre and Stephanie;
brother Lefteris Nasios and sister in law Katerina, of Harwood Heights, IL,
together with dozens of nieces, nephews, koumbaroi, extended family and friends.
Together with his family he was a faithful member of the Annunciation Greek
Orthodox Church, Brockton. His warm smile, eternal optimism, and devotion to
his family will be missed. May his memory be eternal.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton on Friday, September 13th at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00pm -8:00pm.
