John E. "Jack" O'Brien
, 95, of Brockton, died Monday evening, April 28, 2008 at the Copley at Stoughton. He was the husband of the late Madeline (Brouillard) O'Brien.
Born June 5, 1912 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Jeremiah F. O'Brien and Abbie (McGourty) O'Brien. Jack lived most of his life in Brockton and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Jack was a retired Baker and had worked for Connors Bakery in Brockton. He was also one of the original bakers of the Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies of Whitman.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Brockton. An avid bowler and bowled for the Seniors League at the Westgate Lanes in Brockton. He also enjoyed sports and especially the Boston Red Sox.
He is survived by his son, John E. O'Brien, Jr. and his wife Donna of Stoughton; his loving grandchildren, John E. O'Brien, III and Sarah M. O'Brien; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Francis O'Brien, Dr. William O'Brien, Florence O'Brien, and Mary Moynihan.
Funeral Information
Following cremation, a memorial prayer service will be held in the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Monday at 12:00PM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
