Online Obituaries John Joseph Pecoraro, Sr., 87 of Yarmouth Port passed away peacefully with his children at his side after a long illness on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Wingate at Brewster Nursing Home. He was married to Pauline (Guilmette) Pecoraro for 24 years until her passing in 1983. Born March 22, 1929 in Cambridge, MA he was the son of the late Mary (MacDonald) and Alphonso Pecoraro. John was a graduate of Boston College and worked as a social worker for the Welfare Department in E. Weymouth for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Sons of Italy in E. Weymouth. He was a dedicated parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in E.Weymouth, as well as St. Pius X in S. Yarmouth when he moved to the Cape. He loved to hunt with his friends in Vermont and Nova Scotia, was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed horseracing at Saratoga. John is survived by his children, Lori Smith and her husband Brian, John Jr., and his wife Jill, Thomas and his wife Sharon, Paul, Brian and his wife Rene; Nine grandchildren, Three great grandchildren, a sister, Rita Jones and his former wife Sheila Coleman Pecoraro. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Gaeton Pecoraro. The Pecoraro family would like to thank everyone for the compassion and care John received from Wingate at Brewster Nursing Home and Broad Reach Hospice & Palliative Care. Funeral Information A funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul on Thursday, October 27th at 10:30AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 1203 Commercial St., E. Weymouth, MA. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth. Calling hours Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00PM in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St.,(Rt.28) West Bridgewater.
