IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John H.
Sousa
May 15, 1951 – August 18, 2025
John H. Sousa, 74, of Brockton, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025.
The family of John Sousa is saddened by his sudden passing after a brief illness.
John was known as an avid jokester. He loved physical humor and slap stick comedy like the old school Saturday Night Live style. He loved being around the card table with family and friends. Friends have set up a yearly poker tournament in "Johnnys" remembrance. John had a passion for baseball and loved playing with his son, nephews and their friends as they all grew up.
After serving our country as a member of the U.S Navy during the Vietnam war, John returned to Brockton where he became well known and a friend to many through the years as a dedicated employee of Shanleys and Haydens west side liquors. John also worked at other fine spirit stores throughout the city, as the stores changed owners. John was especially affectionate of his boss Domingos who always treated him with kindness and humility.
John is survived by his daughter Heather-Ann (Sousa-Carpender) Feeney, he affectionately called Annie and her husband Derek. His son Michael Sousa. His nephew Norman "Dean" Bousquet. The long-time love of his life Cynthia (Clinton) Carpender and his bonus daughter Lisa Luppino. His brother Alcide "Butchie" Sousa and sister Carol Lainey of Deltona Florida.
John was also blessed to be known as Papa Nonny to Amanda-Leise Rodriques and her husband Chad, Jeremy Petrosso, Brook-Lyn Petrosso, CT12 Sarah Feeney US Navy, Shayna Feeney, Andrew Feeney, Avery-Rayne Feeney, Kaylee "KK" Luppino, Alivia Luppino, Michael Sousa, Sydney Sousa, Madyson Sousa and Great Grand Babies Cooper and Cash Rodriques and Oliver Kane Petrosso.
John was predeceased by his parents Anne (Paula) and Alcide Sousa, Sister Linda (Sousa) Bousquet and nephew Craig Bousquet.
A private celebration of life has been had with family. A later date will be determined for friends of John to gather with his family to remember him fondly.
"Save a dance for me"…. you will truly be missed!
