Online Obituaries John Joseph Veiga, Sr., 74, of Brockton, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at his home in Brockton. He was the husband of Shirley (Stoddard) Veiga. Born December 14, 1939 in Weymouth, he was the son of the late John J. Veiga and Luella (Hicks) Veiga. Raised in Scituate he worked for George DeCoast and James Morrisey. John moved to Brockton in the late 1960s where he worked for AA Will Company in Stoughton. He retired from International Union of Operating Engineers Local 4 in 2007. He was an avid Harley Davidson Rider and loved to go deer hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Stoddard) Veiga; his children, John J. Veiga, Jr., Joanne Veiga, Lucy DeLancey and Edward Veiga; his sisters, Geraldine Barrows, Julia Lopes and Maria Veiga; he is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Kenneth Veiga. Funeral Information Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Friday, November 7th from 4:00-8:00PM. A Graveside Service ONLY will be held in Union Cemetery, Meetinghouse Lane, Scituate at 9:00AM on Saturday, November 8th.
