Born February 4, 1950 in Brava, Cape Verde, he was the son of Georgina (Lima) Alves of Brockton and the late Julio Alves. He is survived by his siblings, Antonio Alves, Gabriel Alves, Carlos Alves, Laurinda Alves Cabral, Maria Amelia Pires Alves, Maria Correia, and Ilda Barros.
