Obituary

Jose Amaro Martins Miranda, age 72, of Brockton, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Born in Tarrafal, Cape Verde, he was the son of the late Joao Baptista Miranda and Maria De Lourdes (Almeida) Miranda.

Jose worked as an air traffic controller for TACV Airlines in Praia, Cape Verde for many years prior to retirement. In his younger years he played soccer and was a fan of Benfica. He also loved morna music and enjoyed swimming.

Mr. Miranda will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his sense of humor, and for being a great man. He took great pride in having all girls.

He is survived by his five loving daughters, Sonia Miranda of Praia, Cape Verde, Nilceth Miranda of Orlando, FL, Nadia Paredes of Orlando, FL, Rossana Miranda of Lisbon, Portugal, and Nadia Miranda of Boston; his siblings, Cora Modesto of Lisbon, Portugal, Antero Miranda of Brockton, Zinha Azevedo of São Vicente, Cape Verde, Ana Mendes of Brockton, Alberto Miranda of Praia, Cape Verde, and Jose Miranda of Bridgewater; eight grandchildren, Joseanne, Malick, Makeila, Zahra, Miguel, Zidanne, Rafael, and Zayne, many nieces, nephews, and very dear friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, with a funeral service beginning at 6:15 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. Interment will be held at a later date.
