Jose Terra Vargas, age 93, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, in Newton, Massachusetts. He was born in Faial, Azores, Portugal.

Jose was the beloved husband of the late Mary Louise (Bourne) Vargas, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Together, they made their home in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, where they raised their three daughters and lived for the past 45 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Valerie Jenness; Melissa Vargas and her partner, Eric Hubert; and Tammie Kenneally and her husband, Edmond Kenneally. He was a proud Papa to Kayla Jenness, Katelyn Vargas, Brendon Jenness, Amanda Jenness, Jeremy Kenneally, and Stephen Kenneally, and a step-grandfather to Nikkolas Hubert and Nathan Hubert. He was also blessed with his great-grandchildren, Amelia Jenness and Rosalie Campbell.

Jose is also survived by his sisters, Alexandrina Carlos and Maria Avila, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was fondly known as "Flub-dub" to many.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Maria Vargas and Rosa Faria.

Calling hours will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 S. Main St., West Bridgewater on Friday, February 13th from 9:00-11:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
