Josefino will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 20th from 5 to 8 p.m. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 21st at St. Edith Stein Church at 10:30 a.m. followed by his interment at Melrose Cemetery.
Josefino or as we all know him, "Nhofino", 77, passed away June 15, 2022 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by caring family and friends.
Josefino was born on March 2, 1945 in Fogo, Cape Verde. He was a fisherman taking on the family business. Josefino was a charmer, loved joking with people and getting to know them. He loved anything involving scratch tickets and cards. Before his passing he played a brief game of cards with his brother, Adelino Alves. Josefino was an outgoing extrovert.
He was strong, never letting cancer get the best of him. He was always the happiest when surrounded by music, friends, and family. He was the son of the late Maxima Depina. Beloved husband of 50 years to Emilia Depina.
He is survived by his 7 children Maria Pires and her husband Francisco Pires,Maria Depina, Suzete Depina and her husband Manuel Andrade, Sandra Depina and her husband Joao Fonseca, Aguiar Depina, Pedro Depina and Domingos Depina. He leaves behind 6 siblings, 28 grandchildren, 5 great grand-children and nieces and nephews. Josefino will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
