Obituary

Joseph M. Campbell, of Bridgewater, passed  away Thursday, August 7, 2025.  He was the husband of Anne Campbell.

Joseph Malcolm Campbell was born to Marion and Malcolm Campbell in 1929. He was raised in St. Peter's Parish in Dorchester, Massachusetts with his sister Ann Campbell Walsh of Canton, and brother Charles H. Campbell (deceased).

After graduating from Boston Technical High School in 1948, he enlisted in the Air National Guard and continued his service in the United States Air Force. He served in Libya during the Korean War as an Air Traffic Controller and Radar Operator.

After completing his service he returned to Boston and continued his education at the Wentworth Institute of Technology. He graduated with honors in 1955 with a degree in Architectural Construction. He then continued his education at Northeastern University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and Management in 1962.

He worked as an Architect and Structural Engineer until his retirement. His skill and hard work contributed to much of the Boston skyline. His work included the original John Hancock, McCormack Building, Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant, and wind tunnels for NASA.

He and Anne were married for 67 wonderful years. Together they built their home and family in Randolph, Massachusetts. They had seven children: Joseph Patrick Campbell (deceased), Brian J. Campbell of Raynham and his wife Maureen, Mary K. Mooney of Sudbury and her husband David, Diane M. Campbell of Boston, James M. Campbell of Foxborough and his wife Deirdre, Paula J. Brod of Bridgewater and her husband Vinson, and Christine Rennie of Bridgewater and her husband Michael.

Joseph was constantly surrounded by people who loved him. Especially his fourteen grandchildren who loved and cared for their Papa. Shane J. Campbell, Lindsey C. Keane, Emily A. Campbell, Coleen L. Campbell, J. Frank Mooney, Joseph M. Mooney, Jack M. Campbell, Finlay R. Campbell, Leo J. Campbell, Campbell V. Brod, Joseph M. Brod, Patrick M. Rennie, Kathleen R. Rennie, and Erin E. Rennie.

Joseph and Anne were greatly devoted to each other, and their life was built on a strong foundation of Catholic Faith. He was loved by his family and caregivers, who selflessly supported and cared for him. His thoughtful and gentle manner touched everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Calling hours are Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm at Russell & Pica. 441 South Main Street, Route 28, West Bridgewater.  Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, August 13th at 10:30am at St. Basil Chapel, 122 Park Avenue, Bridgewater, followed by burial services at Milton Cemetery, 211 Center Street, Milton.
