"Hot Dog" Daugirda

Joseph J. “Hot Dog” Daugirda, age 91, of Brockton, died unexpectedly, December 27, 2015 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Joe was the husband of the late Livia (Camillone) Daugirda. Lifelong of Brockton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Amelia (Kvaraceus) Daugirda. Joe was an Army veteran of WWII, and fought in the Normandy Invasion. He was educated in Brockton schools and the Franklin Trade School. He worked as a leather worker at Berco Shoe Company and retired from Foot Joy as an Edge Setter after many years. For 35 years, he had been a member and Treasurer of the Casimir Club; and a longtime member of the Lithuanian Citizens Club, Sandera Club, Enterprise Club, VFW, Post 1046, and Brockton Council on Aging. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and dogs, and liked to fish, play cards, garden, mushroom and cook. He was also an avid WWII buff.
Joe is survived by his daughter Linda A. Murphy of North Easton; two grandsons Richard Daugirda and his wife Kirstin of Dartmouth and Joseph Daugirda of California; and four great grandchildren Cecelia, Rosa, Raegan and Eli Daugirda. He was the father of the late Richard J. Daugirda.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, Thursday at 10am, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
