Joseph "Joe" LaFranchise Sr. 88, passed away March 19, 2022, one day before his 89th birthday, after a lingering illness. Joe was born in Brockton to the late Isadore and Alice (Landry) LaFranchise. He was a lifelong resident of Brockton and attended Brockton schools. Joe was married to his teenage sweetheart, Lucille Jantomaso, who was the love of his life for 68 years. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. Joe was a devoted husband and loving father. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working around his home. Joe had a great sense of humor and was known for his one liners and quick wit. Joe was the kind of person who would always lend a helping hand to others. He worked many years for the city of Brockton and retired as Superintendent of Melrose Cemetery. Joe spent several years volunteering at St. Coletta's in Braintree and Cardinal Cushing School and Training Center in Hanover. He was a member of the VFW Post 697, ITAM War Veterans Post 62 and the Mass Retirees Association. Joe is survived by his wife Lucille, daughters Lori Gay of Wareham, Lynne Lent and her husband Brad of Mesa, Arizona and son Joseph Jr. of Brockton. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased in death by his brothers Bernard and Ernest. The family is appreciative of the compassionate care Joe received while being a patient at Baypointe Rehabilitation and would like to thank all the staff for being so kind and supportive. They would also like to thank Old Colony Hospice for their support. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (rt123) BROCKTON on Saturday, March 26th from 9:00AM-11:00AM followed by a prayer service in the Funeral Home at 11:00AM.
