Josephine T. Jackson

Josephine T. Jackson, 101 years old – Died October 19, 2026. Born in Brockton, daughter of Nicola Metta and Maria (Defelice) Metta of Bari, Italy. Survived by her Daughters Donita Lenahan, Jessica Moore (Paul) and Carla Mazgelis-Costa (Bob), 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59-years Robert C. Jackson, sisters Marie Shumway, Jennie Metta, Helen Cappiello, Lucy Cerro, Fontaine Metta; brothers Michael Metta, William Metta, Sabino Metta and Frank Metta.

Josephine was employed at Camp Myles Standish Department of Intelligence during WWII. She was latter employed by Fernandes Supermarkets where everyone knew her as “Hey Jo”! She was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary daily. She enjoyed singing with Irelands Own and the Church choir where she was a member of St Margarets and Our Lady of Lourdes. She also enjoyed cooking where she could show off her lower salt marinara, eggplant, and artichokes. She was a great cook! Josephine loved a good book and was an avid reader often swapping and discussing her favorites with her daughters. Her back porch was loaded with plants. If you had a sick plant Jo would bring it back to life. To say she had a green thumb would be an understatement.

What sticks out the most about Jo was how important family and friends were to her. Each year she would host a party at Christmas. The house would be packed, the food overflowing, and the line of people was endless. Everyone made it a point to stop by and mingle and she’d be smiling ear-to-ear as she was creating memories for everyone that attended.

She had a long and enjoyable life. She didn’t leave us she just moved on to a better place.

The Family would like to thank her dedicated caregivers who became her extended family and made her last days as comfortable as possible. Thank you Stephanie, Sharon, Linda, Daphnee, Maria, and Sandra and the staff of nurses at Dignity Hospice loving care.
