Josephine A. (Vella) Lewis Josephine A. (Vella) Lewis , 86, of West Bridgewater, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Coyne Healthcare Center of Rockland after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Raymond E. Lewis. Born May 3, 1925 in Boston she was the daughter of the late Gaetano Vella and Rosario (Stringi) Vella. Josephine was a resident of Brockton for over 70 years. She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Brockton. Josephine was an avid gardener who loved knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed karate, holding a sixth degree black belt. She is survived by her sons, Guy Lewis and his wife Donna of Halifax and James Lewis and his wife Susan of Hanson; her grandchildren, Guy Lewis, Jr. of Middleboro, Derek Robert Lewis of Middleboro, Shawn Ryan Lewis of Halifax, Lindsey Lewis of Rockland and Jeffrey Lewis of Hanson; her great-granddaughter, Autumn; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Paul Vella. Funeral Information Funeral service in the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Wednesday, August 24th at 11:00AM.
