Joyce Brenda Beard, 74, of Middleboro, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 at the South Shore Hospital. She was the longtime companion of Richard Prysak and mother of Heath Beard and Christy Beard.

Born in New Bedford on January 14, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Doris (Houghton) Furtado. She graduated from Dartmouth High School.

Joyce moved to Middleboro in 1997 and worked at the Brockton Veteran Hospital for 24 years.

She enjoyed skiing, swimming and dancing as well as going to Disney World and working in her flower garden.

In addition to her companion Richard and children Heath and Christy, Joyce is survived by her grandson Ethan Crowther; her sister Charlotte LeFrancois; her stepchildren Lydia Prysak and Mary Gehrke; and her step grandchildren Bruce Gehrke and Clair Gehrke.
