Online Obituaries Judith K.(Nelson)(Burns) Zanca, 73, of Brockton, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 in her home surrounded by her loved ones, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the wife of Robert F. Zanca. She was born on November 30, 1940, in Braintree, MA to the late Axel Edwin Nelson of Quincy, MA and Ingaborg (Johansson) Nelson of Sweden. Judy graduated from Braintree High School in 1958 and received a degree from the Art Institute of Boston in 1962. Judy was named Best Artist of Boston in 1967 by the Copley Society on Newbury St. in Boston. She worked as an illustrator most of her life first for Mammoth Mart then for the Bradlees corporate offices in Braintree. Judy, known by family as Mimi, was an active member of the Universalist Unitarian Church of Brockton, enjoyed gardening, singing and painting landscapes and portraits for her loved ones. She loved to travel, and took many trips worldwide with her husband Robert. Judy had an amazing wit and sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, and friend. Judy is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Zanca; her daughter, Laura (Burns) Ward and her husband David of Middleboro and their 3 children; her son, Thomas S. Burns of Brockton; her sister, Janet (Nelson) Inkley of West Dennis; she is also survived by a niece, nephews and extended family through her husband Bob. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family and will remain in our hearts forever. She was the sister of the late Joan Dewing of Plymouth. Funeral Information Calling hours will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Monday, April 14th from 5:00-8:00PM. Funeral services will be held in the Universalist Unitarian Church, 325 West Elm St., Brockton on Tuesday, April 15th at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:30PM.
