Julio "Calo" Gomes Julio "Calo" Gomes , 46, of Brockton died unexpectedly Monday, June 25, 2007 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after being stricken ill while at work. Born October 8, 1960 in Praia, Cape Verde, he was the son of Djon Gomes and Maria Dos Reis Tavares Gomes. He served as a sargeant in the Cape Verde Army for ten years. He was a resident of Brockton for 18 years. He worked as a machine operator for Superior Binder, Inc. in Braintree. He enjoyed traveling, clubs, attending the gym, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed listening to zouk love. He is survived by his children, Jackson Gomes, Angelo Gomes, Elzo Tavares, Jason Gomes, and Jalyse Gomes; his parents, Djon Gomes and Maria Dos Reis Tavares Gomes; his brothers, Jorge Gomes, John Gomes, Jacinto Gomes; his sisters, Annie Teixeira, Ineida Gomes, Joanna Gomes, Nilda Gomes, Nadia Gomes, and Yara Gomes. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton on Saturday, June 30th at 8:00AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Edith Stein Parish/St. Edwards Church at 9:00AM.
