It is with much sadness that the family of June E. Carter announces her passing on April 21, 2020 at the age of 88. Born on August 17, 1931 she was preceded in death by her father Harold (Nick) S. Carter, her mother Ordis (Harris) Carter, her sister Betty Lou, and her brother Harold (Sonny) Carter. June was born and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts, attended Brockton High School and was a lifelong supporter of Messiah Baptist Church. She was employed by Dartmouth Shoe Company before accepting a position with the New England Telephone Company, where she remained until retirement. June's kindness and generous spirit will be remembered by all. Her fondness for cooking and bingo provide cherished memories. June is survived by her sister Helena "Sue" C. Alves of Brockton; two nieces Susan "Penny" Gurley of Brockton, Doreen G. Lindsay of Stoughton; two great nieces Tanya L. Walker (Anthony), of Texas, and Melissa Lindsay of California; one great great niece Jordan Nia Walker of Texas; two cousins Wendell B. Harris of Michigan, and Dr. Hobart Harris of California. In addition to other family members, and close friends including Harriet "Snookie" Beasley of Brockton. A private burial will take place at Melrose Cemetery. The Carter family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the many friends whose calls and prayers have served as a great source of strength. A memorial service to celebrate the life of June will be planned for a later date.
