Kanella Economos, 99, of Philadelphia, PA passed away at Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA on May 12, 2026. She was the wife of the late Christopharos Economos. Kanella was born in Brockton, MA on June 30, 1926 to the parents of Asimo and George Protopappas.
Kanella was the second oldest of four sisters. The late Demetra Kallas of Jamacia, NY and her late husband Louie Kallas. The late Mary "Athena" Tsionis of Brockton, MA and her late husband Philip Tsionis. She is survived by her sister Sophia Terzakis and her late husband Nicholas Terzakis of Brockton, MA. She is survived by three nieces and two nephews. George Terzakis and his wife Julia Terzakis of Raynham, MA. Arthur Terzakis and his wife Terre Terzakis of Sacramento, CA, Betty Kallas of New York City, NY, Stacy Tsionis of Athens, Greece, Diane Tsionis-Agostino and her later husband Natale of South Weymouth, MA. Kanella has two great nieces: Sophia Mary Terzakis of Medford, MA and Vanessa Vengalli and her husband John Vengalli of Fairfield, CT. Kanella has two great nephews: Nick Terzakis of West Sacramento, CA and Philip Tsionis-Agostino of Harrisburg, PA and his son Lorenzo.
Kanella resided at All American Assisted Living in Raynham for the past four years. When Kanella was asked what the secret was to live a long life, she said there was no secret but her family thinks it was her positivity and kindness that let her live to 99. She loved spending time with her family and friends and had a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Visitation will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak Street, Brockton, MA on Wednesday, May 27th from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by her funeral mass at 11 a.m. Interment Melrose Cemetery, 88 North Pearl Street, Brockton,
