Obituary

Karen Lee (Garner) Wilson of Lakeville died unexpectedly on February 19, 2023 at the age of 63.

Born August 8, 1959 in Washington D.C., she was the daughter of the late George Edward Garner and Florence Catherine Snellings. She was raised and educated in Riverdale, MD with her 7 siblings where she attended school at Parkdale High.

Karen enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren who she adored. She was an excellent cook who took much pride in preparing meals for her family. Reliability, compassion and selflessness were key to her character; often putting others needs before her own. Before moving to Massachusetts to be closer to her grandchildren, she worked as a caregiver and med tech at an assisted living home in Maryland. Taking care of people was her nature. In addition to helping raise her grandchildren, Karen worked part time at a local store, always welcoming her regular customers with a warm smile and inside jokes. Above all else Karen lived and loved for her family.

She is survived by her children Matthew Wilson, Brian Wilson, Melissa O'Brien and her son in law, Matt O'Brien. Additionally she is survived by her grandsons Jacob O'Brien, Julian O'Brien and Colin O'Brien as well as several nieces and nephews and her identical twin sister Gail McMillan. Among those who will treasure her memory are Edward "Mickey" Wilson and her niece Jennifer McMillan.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Russell-Pica Funeral Home, 17 Main Street, Lakeville, MA on Wednesday March 1, 2023 from 2pm-5pm. All are welcome.
