Karl Leo Slater, 75, of Raynham passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the beloved husband of Sylvia (Caledonia) Slater. Karl was born in Brockton and raised on his family's 11-acre farm in West Bridgewater. He graduated from West Bridgewater High School in 1963 and met his future wife Sylvia in 1965. Karl and Sylvia were married on September 3, 1967. He began his career as a printer at the Brockton Enterprise shortly after high school before becoming a tractor-trailer driver for the next 40 years, finally retiring in April of 2016. Karl enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching the Red Sox and the Patriots and also attending car shows. In addition to his wife, Karl is survived by his children Brett Slater and Shannon Slater of Taunton; his beloved dachshund Reeses and his cousin Harvey Slater of Rhode Island. Karl was the devoted son of the late Lester and Mary (Noonan) Slater of West Bridgewater and was the brother of the late Lester P. Slater, Robert D. Slater and Christopher B. Slater. Calling hours will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main Street (Rt. 28) West Bridgewater on Wednesday, September 8th from 4:00-7:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM.
