Obituary

Katherine (Black) Ghizari, age 49, of Brockton, died peacefully at her home August 24, 2013, surrounded by family after battling lung cancer. Katherine was the fiancée of Michael A. Nelson of Brockton. Born in Marquette, MI she was the daughter of Blanche (Vaccaro) Black of Easton and the late Donald J. Black, Sr. She was a graduate of Brockton High School and Stonehill College. For several years Katherine was an administrative secretary for the Holy Cross Fathers in North Easton. Katherine loved her daughters and they meant the world to her. She also enjoyed painting, gardening and cooking and had been a volunteer at Sacred Heart School.

Katherine was the mother of Gina Marie and Andrianna Ghizari of West Bridgewater, sister of Michael Black and his wife Deborah of Brockton, John Black and his wife Michelle of New York, Sueanne Giel and her husband Remberto of Brockton and Donald Black and his wife Joanne of Florida. She also leaves her close friends from the Nelson family and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Friday at 9am for a funeral mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am. Burial will be at a later date in Melrose Cemetery. Donations in Katherine’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
