Katherine Gibbs Katherine (Swan) Gibbs, 86, formerly of Bridgewater, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Charlwell House in Norwood. She was the wife of the late Edward Gibbs. Born October 18, 1920 in Wilson, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Swan and Henrietta (Steele) Swan. Mrs. Gibbs was a retired Diet Aide at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Infirmary, she had been employed at M.I.T. for over ten years. Mrs. Gibbs also held the high honor and title at the Church of God in Christ as a Mother Of The Church which she had been a long time member since the early 1950's. She is survived by her children, Carol Gibbs-Henderson of Brockton, Barbara Ann Gibbs of Connecticut, and Jo-Ann Gibbs Taylor of New York; her brother-in-law, Organge Oden; her sister-in-law, Miriam Oden; her son-in-laws, Joseph C. Henderson and Robert V. Taylor; her daughter-in-law, Suzanne C. Gibbs; she is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Edward Gibbs, Jr. Funeral Information Funeral services in the Church of God in Christ, 16-18 Fessenden St., Mattapan on Thursday morning at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Bridgewater. Calling hours in the Church of God in Christ on Wednesday evening 7:00-9:00PM.
