Obituary

Katherine (Sweeney) Stevens age 84 of Brockton died Friday evening February 4, 2011 at Signature Healthcare/Brockton Hospital. Born in Boston a daughter of the late John J. and Katherine M. (Burns) Sweeney she had resided in Brockton since 1990. Previously she had resided in Waltham where she had been a child care provider at Kinder Care. In her free time Katherine enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She also loved playing bingo and solving crossword puzzles.

Katherine is survived her eight children Katherine Bethony of Norwood; Marie Burke and her husband James of Brockton; Linda Rosenfield and her husband Joseph of Middleboro, Irvan A. Steven, III of Brockton, Peter Stevens of Malden, Thomas Stevens and his wife Elaine of Norton; Susan Stone and her husband Michael of Lynn and Charles Stevens of Brockton. She leaves 13 grandchildren Ernie & Elizabeth, James & David, Paul & Katie, Thomas & Dennis, Kathy & Michael, Charles, Jr. Carolyn & James and 12 great grandchildren Patrick, Meghan, David, Olivia, Will, Joshua, Matthew, Ben, Abigail, Christian, Shane and Marissa She also leaves many nieces, nephews and the many people who loved her. Katherine was the last of eight siblings.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 9 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at10 am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 5-8 pm. Donations in Katherine’s name may be made to Old Colony Hospice One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
