Obituary

Kathleen M. Keene, age 84, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Thomas B. Keene.

Born and raised in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Leo M. and Ethel A. (Devereaux) Plunkett.

Kay graduated from Jamaica Plain High School in 1957.

Prior to raising her family, she worked as a typist for Hardware Mutual Insurance. She also worked seasonally at New England Arts and in the kitchen at Rockland Nursing Home.

An avid reader, she also enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, and cooking. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Kathleen was very loving, supportive, nurturing, and well known.

She is survived by her children, Kim-Marie Mulready and her significant other Fred Pace of Whitman, Katherine Keene of Abington, and Theresa Bethune and her husband Wesley of East Bridgewater; five grandchildren, Erica McCann-Stevenson and her husband Matthew, Mykel Looney, Matthew Looney and his wife Sarah, Heather Pace and her significant other Ron Johnson, and Griffen Bethune; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Kathleen was the great grandmother of the late Zachery Looney and sister of the late Anne Croce, Patricia Obin, and Eileen Bailey.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, with “words of remembrance” beginning at 6:30 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton.
