IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen M. (Foley)
Mccabe
July 8, 1958 – June 8, 2025
Kathleen M. McCabe, 66, of East Bridgewater, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025 at her home under the care of her family and hospice. She was the loving wife of Leon McCabe.
Born and raised in the City of Champions, Kathy was the youngest of six children. She was fun-loving, a joy to be around, and a magnet to all of those near her. After working many years tending bar at the Capeway Manor, Kathy returned to school as a full-time mother and earned her bachelor's in education from Bridgewater State College. She went on to have a career working with special needs children for West Bridgewater Public Schools, leaving an indelible mark on the students and families she cared so deeply for.
In her spare time, Kathy always made it a point to stay active. She enjoyed going for walks and taking classes at the local YMCA, favoring Body Pump and Zumba. Often times, Kathy would take these exercise classes back-to-back after walking to the gym for a warm-up. On any day that would allow, you could find her soaking up the sun at the beach or poolside with her family and friends. No matter where she was, she always made it a point to support those around her, even telling other patrons at a random restaurant, "Oh, you look beautiful!", before even being seated.
Kathy's priority, purpose, and fulfillment came from her family. She was the selfless mother of Christopher, Mollee, Kellee, and Matthew and the dedicated wife of Leon McCabe for 35 years. Her joy came from taking care of others, including her late mother Tilly for eighteen years. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Charlotte McCabe and Lucy Connolly. She would often gloat about her favorite son-in-law Dan, who was always quick to help fix whatever household problems that could not be handled by her hands-on and tech-savvy husband. Times of laughter were always had with her daughter-in-law Amanda McCabe, who she adored and shared many inside jokes with. Her dreams also came to fruition when Matthew brought home Lily Johansen, who has proven herself not only to be a remarkable cook but a caring and welcomed addition to the family.
Kathy was a fighter and remained hopeful during her 21 plus month battle with Glioblastoma. She handled this disease with tenacity, determination, and grace.
Kathy is survived by her sisters and brother Maureen F. Monahan, Barbara A. Bartorelli, and Steven P. Foley. She will also be remembered by sister-in-law Marylou Belmore, George McCabe and his wife Cheryl, sister-in-law Theresa Mitchell and husband Steve, along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter Kellee McCabe, her mother and father Tilly and James Foley, sister Lorraine T. Prosper and husband Joseph, brother James "Buddy" Foley, sister-in-law Sally Foley, brother-in-law Gary Bartorelli, brother-in-law Leon Belmore, and brother-in-law Wayne Lombardi Sr.
