Father of Kevin J. of OH, Michael F. of Brockton, Susan Swartz of Stoughton, Joseph P. DePippo of Attleboro and Lynn F. DePippo of CT,. Brother of Elizabeth Murphy of Brockton. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and several aunts and cousins.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton Tuesday at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater at 11am. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8pm. Larry died quietly Saturday morning at his home in Sharon where he has resided for the last 20 years. He was born in Brockton the son of the late Arthur R. and Catherine (Lyons) Murphy. Larry was raised in Brockton and graduated from Brockton schools and also is a graduate of Northeastern University. He worked for the court system in Brockton for 27 years and retired 10 years ago as an Assistant Chief Probation Officer, prior to that he worked a short time for the Welfare Dept.
Larry had a great love of music playing several instruments and many years ago played in the band the White Knights. In the 10 years since his retirement he spent most of his time with his music and entertaining. He was well known for playing music and performing magic throughout the South Shore at many retirement homes and pre schools known by many children as the “Music Man”. He thrived on being social and loved spending time with people of all ages.
He was a great sportsman belonging to the NRA where he enjoyed competitive pistol shooting, the Massapoag sportsmans club, the Satucket Rifle and Revolvers Club, and the Avon Fishing and Game Club. He also had been a former member the K of C Council 93 Brockton and a member of the National Guard
