Laura Fernandes Gomes, 89, of Brockton, Massachusetts passed away peacefully in her home on March 27, 2024. She was the wife of the late Manuel Gomes.

Born and raised in Brava, Cape Verde, Laura was the daughter of the late Eugenio and Margarita (Dos Reis Gilmete) Fernandes. She dedicated her life to God and her family. Laura enjoyed knitting and sewing during her days.

Laura is survived by her son Jose Gomes of Brockton; sister Angela Gilbert of Brockton; 3 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sons Eugenio and Abraham Gomes, her grandchildren Steve and Jeannie Gomes and her great granddaughter Kiara Gomes. She was the sister of the late Joao Fernandes, Antonio Fernandes, Maria Fernandes DaLomba, Ana Andrade, Eugenia Fernandes DePina, and Julia Fernandes.

Laura Fernandes Gomes was family to many and loved by all.

Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday, April 4th at 8:30AM thence to St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 E. Main St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 3rd from 4:00PM-7:00PM.
