Laura Marigold Naitram,86, of West Bridgewater and previously from Barbados, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton after a long hard-fought battle with dementia.
Born on September 10, 1935 in Forestiere, St. Lucia, she was the daughter of the late Antoine and Daisy (Gajadhar) Naitram. Laura is survived by her son Hess Naitram and daughter-in-law Janine Naitram of West Bridgewater. She was the proud grandmother of Dwayne Naitram of Brockton.
Laura is survived by her sisters of Pearl Naitram of Minnesota, Julia Jones of Barbados; and her brothers Elvin Naitram of St. Marteen, Carl Naitram, Hensley Naitram and Harry Naitram, all of Barbados. She is predeceased by her sisters, the late Dahlia Williams of Barbados, Thelma Naitram and Lydia Naitram, both of St. Lucia; and her brother, the late Nichols Naitram of St. Lucia.
Laura came from an enormous family that practically spans the globe; Barbados, St. Lucia, England, India, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Marteen, and the United States, to name a few. She had many close cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends that will miss her tremendously.
In her younger years, her focus was always taking care of others (especially family & children) with a strong dedication to the Lord, as religion was the central part of her life. She worked at Bimshire Enterprises, Tempro, and then became a longtime employee at the family business, AG Agency. She retired and moved to West Bridgewater in 2007, settling in nicely with the community. She was a regular at the West Bridgewater Council on Aging, making many new friends and adding a new skill to her already many talents, Swedish weaving. She created her own designs which were amazing!
Laura was welcomed at the Temple Baptist Church in West Bridgewater. She always felt a sense of belonging and was a regular parishioner to Sunday services and Bible study. There was always someone that was willing to get her to and from services, including Pastor William Smith.
There were many people involved with Laura's care up to the time of her death. These included Temple Baptist Church, West Bridgewater Council on Aging, West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton, the Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canton and Kindred Hospice in Auburndale. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Laura's name to one of these wonderful, caring groups.
A celebration of Laura's life will be held in the Temple Baptist Church, 540 Manley St., West Bridgewater on Friday, April 22nd at 4:00 PM. A reception gathering will be held immediately after in the Church Hall.
