Laurie Louise (Ahlborg) Whelan, age 79, a lifelong resident of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. In her final two years, she resided at Cornerstone of Canton Assisted Living, where she continued to share her warmth and spirit with those around her.

Born on June 16, 1946, in Brockton, MA, Laurie was the daughter of the late Arnold and Doris Ahlborg. She was predeceased by her brother, Paul Ahlborg, and her sisters, Judith Ahlborg and Ann Packard, all of whom she held close throughout her life.

Laurie was a devoted mother to her daughter, Jessica Coulombe,and her husband, Derek Coulombe, and her son, David Whelan. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Benjamin, Madeline, and William, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.

Laurie dedicated many years of service to the Old Colony YMCA in Brockton, where she built lasting friendships and made a positive impact on her community before retiring. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures — tending to her garden, playing poker, enjoying computer games, and spending cherished time with her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

Laurie was especially proud of her Swedish heritage and embraced the traditions and values passed down through her family. She will be remembered for her strength, independence, warmth, and the deep love she had for her family. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 S. Main Street, West Bridgewater, MA. A luncheon for family and friends will follow the service.
