Leonas Vilboras Venckus, 85, of Brockton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 1, 1939, in Plunge, Lithuania, Leonas was the cherished son of Leonas and Juzefa Venckus.
Leonas immigrated to the United States as a young man, bringing with him the values of hard work, family, and community that shaped his life. As an adult he pursued a variety of roles in the garment and transportation industries, retiring as a truck driver with GTE. Leonas took immense pride in his family and the life he built in his adopted homeland.
Leonas married the love of his life, Patricia (Platkauskas) Venckus, and together they created a beautiful family of seven children. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found his greatest joy in time spent with his loved ones. His hobbies included cooking, savoring a good cognac, and volunteering at the Avon VFW, where he formed lifelong friendships in his community.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; his sister, Elyte Izokaitis; and his children: Julie Nesseralla, Leo Venckus, Peter Venckus, Kristina Stockford, Vinny Venckus, and Regina Walker. He was predeceased by his son, Stephen Venckus.
Leonas was a proud grandfather to Stephen, Nicholas, Alyssa, Tara, Amy, Jacqueline, Brandon, Elisha, Victoria, Isaiah, William, Katie, Jake, and Hailee, and a cherished great-grandfather to Aiden, Lucy, Adam, Liam, Logan, Ashlee, Aubrey, DeShawn, Karina, Julianna, Alexander, and Juliette.
Leonas's warmth and humor, will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of Leonas's life will be held at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St. (rt.28), West Bridgewater on Wednesday, November 27th from 10:00AM-12:00PM followed by a prayer service in the funeral home at 12:00PM. Interment will in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Leonas's memory be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, a cause he held dear to his heart.
Rest in peace, Leo. Your legacy of love and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of those you leave behind.
