ATTLEBORO — Linda (Scallin) Prew, 68, of Attleboro, formerly of Norton passed away on Saturday November 10, 2018 at Wingate at Norton after a hard-fought three-year cancer battle. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Fuller Prew to whom she married on November 21, 1973.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on January 19, 1950, she was a loving daughter of the late Harry J. and Jane P. (Wayzack) Scallin.
Linda grew up and was educated in Pawtucket. She graduated from Tolman High School and went on to graduate from the Arthur Angelo School of Hair Design.
A resident of Attleboro for the past 7 years, she had previously made her family home in Norton and prior to retiring had worked at the Foxboro Company as well as being a silk screener for R.S. Silkscreening in Norton.
Linda had a love of life and made the most of each of her days. She was most proud being a stay at home mom raising her three children in Norton and having an open door for any and all family and friends. She loved camping, gardening and being outdoors whenever she could.
Her strong will and wit will be missed most of all. She could light up a room with her feisty, yet good sense of humor and infectious laugh. She was a history enthusiast and enjoyed recounting countless tales – tall and not so tall.
Family time meant the most to Linda. She was very proud of her family and was most excited when she became a grandma to her four (soon to be five) grandchildren. Linda loved the holidays and family get-togethers where everyone would gather around the table sharing stories, playing dominoes and just simply enjoying each other's company.
She is survived by her devoted children Curtis A. Prew of Foxboro, Charles A. Prew of North Attleboro and Mary A. Prew of Attleboro. She was the cherished grandmother of Dylan, Ashley, Nola and Lyla. She was the dear sister of Joseph P. Scallin of Pawtucket and Nancy Antonelli of Providence. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be held privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Mom, you have given so much and asked for so little in return. Thank you for always being there for us, teaching us, listening to us, helping and forgiving us and just loving us for who we are.
