Reflection of Life

Linwood Leroy Harris was born to the late David Lee Harris and Linnie B. Harris on January 11, 1948. On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, he went to be with the Lord, surrounded by peace. Linwood affirmed hope in Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Holy Temple Church of God in Christ in Memphis, Tennessee. Later in life, he continued his Christian journey as an active member of Born Again Church of God In Christ in Mattapan, MA under the leadership of his brother, Bishop Hessie Harris. He completed his Christian journey as a member of New Life Christian Church Ministries in Brockton, MA under the leadership of his son, Bishop, Orlando Harris.

At New Life, Linwood also known as "Pa Harris" was a founding member along of the noonday Prayer. He was also a member of the Sizzlin' Seasoned Saints Ministry.

Linwood completed his elementary and junior high education in the Memphis Public School System and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1966. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. After serving in the military, Linwood returned to his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee in 1971 where he worked with his father for a brief time.

On July 16, 1977 Linwood married his childhood sweetheart, Mrs. Ruthie Dean Harris. The year prior, the two had moved to Boston, MA with their three sons. They eventually settled in Brockton, MA and celebrated 48 years of love, marriage and beautiful memories.

Linwood worked as a machinist at Proctor and Gamble until his retirement in 1996. He was an avid golfer who played many courses around the state of Massachusetts. He thoroughly loved engaging in lively conversation and debate with his family and friends. Linwood had a wealth of advice for the younger generation. His quick wit, sense of humor, and passion was unmatched and left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Linwood was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mrs. Davienet Berry of Massachusetts; and brother Bishop Hessie Lee Harris of Massachusetts.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Mrs. Ruthie Dean Harris, a loving mother-in-love, Ruthie Williams of Memphis, TN; son, Bishop Orlando (Treniece) Harris of Randolph, MA; daughter, Deborah (James) Hines of Memphis, TN; son, Jesse of Brockton, MA; son, Antonio of Brockton, MA; two brothers, Pastor Bernard (Andrea) Harris of Whitman, MA and Lionel Harris of Chelsea, MA, and two sisters, Shirley Randolph (Late Frank) of Memphis, TN and Patricia Selden (Late Johnnie) of Brockton, MA. He leaves a legacy of love, wisdom, and a reminder to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren that there is no place like home except at "Grandpa's" along with a host of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-love, sisters-in-love, church family, lifelong friends, too many to name all of whom will miss him greatly.

Forever in our hearts.
