Lionel C. Dias, 78, of Brockton, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Norma (Colombo) Dias for 58 years. Born November 15, 1935 in Taunton, he was the son of the late Camillo Dias and Anna (Souto) Dias. Raised in Taunton, he was a graduate of Taunton High School. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army serving over 30 years in the Massachusetts National Guard. He was also a retired Plastics Engineer and had last worked for Di-Mo Tool Company for over 10 years. Lionel was an avid reader, loved NASCAR and was a sports enthusiast. He was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Norma (Colombo) Dias; his sons, Steven M. Dias and his wife Carolyn of Raynham and Paul R. Dias and his wife Liza of Florida; his grandchildren, Leslie, Michael, Alison, Abigail and Jonah Dias; his siblings, Albert Dias of Falmouth, Lawrence Dias of Middleboro; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Laura Chaussee.

Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on on Monday, May 12th at 8:00AM thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 9:00AM. Interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:15AM. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00-5:00PM.
