Obituary

Lois Whitcomb Ketler of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024 at the age of 83.

Lois is survived by her loving husband, Harry Ketler of West Bridgewater, her devoted daughter, Judy Dempsey and her husband Stephen of Hanson, and her caring son, Ken Ketler and his wife Julie of Lakeville. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Janet, Karen, Jill, Erin, Tom, Olivia, James, Susan, and Elisa, and two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Elizabeth. She is preceded in death by her son Stephen Ketler.

Born in Salem, New Hampshire in 1941, Lois was the only child of Virginia (Spence) Whitcomb and Lyle Whitcomb. She graduated from Woodbury High School in 1959, where she was voted Most Athletic for her participation in softball and basketball. Lois then attended Burdett College, graduating in 1961 with her Executive Secretarial certificate. She met her husband, Harry Ketler, through mutual friends while bowling. Lois and Harry married in 1962 and were happily married for 62 years.

After staying at home to raise her three children, Lois worked for many years as a secretary in a medical office. She was an active member of the First Church of West Bridgewater, where many of her close and life-long friendships started. Together Lois and her friends spent many happy years in the kitchen preparing coffee-hours, church lunches and dinners. Lois loved to play the piano, bake delicious desserts, and knit heart-felt gifts.

Lois's greatest joy in life was her family. She was always happiest when she and Harry were with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She instilled a strong sense of love and loyalty in her family. All those who knew Lois knew her as a sweet soul with a kind heart. Her legacy is one of a life well-lived and well-loved, and her bright spirit will live on in the lives of all who love her.
