Online Obituaries Mr. Longie Chetkauskas of Canton peacefully passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the Brockton VA Hospital. He is survived by his wife (of 64 years) Florence (Verzone) Chetkauskas; his son Peter and his daughter Paula. Born and educated in Cambridge, he served with honor during WWII (following with GI bill studies at MIT) then into a long and interesting career in electronic engineering contributing in many important projects from the NASA Atlas rocket program to assisting in the development of the Alvin deep sea submarine at Woods Hole, MA. In his personal time he was an avid sportsman (both hunting fishing) was a longtime member and officer within the Massachusetts AKC and shared partner of Postfield Kennels in Canton with his father in law Emile Verzone. Funeral Information Our family deeply thanks all who knew him well. Longie's wishes were to have a simple private (immediate family only) ceremony that will take place at the VA National Cemetery in Bourne, Ma.
