Obituary

Loretta A Murray, nee Farrell age 90, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 under the care of her family and hospice. She was the beloved wife of Albert F Murray Sr. for 61 years who predeceased her.

Born on March 3rd 1934 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late William A Farrell and Anna Farrell, nee Smith. Loretta was raised in the Bronx, before moving to Boston, marrying, and raising her family in Brockton Ma

Loretta was a retired switch board operator for Brockton Hospital. Additionally, she spent many years employed as a cafeteria worker for the Brockton Public School System.

She enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband as well as camping and hiking with her family. Her hobbies included square dancing, sewing, being a leader for both the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was active in local advocacy issues. She loved mountains and deer however; nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her family.

She was a long-standing member of St Coleman's Parrish in Brockton and St. John's Parrish in East Bridgewater.

She is survived by her five children, Albert F. Murray, Jr. and his wife Beth, Bill Murray and his wife Susan, Kay MacDonald and her husband Rich, Michael J. Murray and his wife Maria and Edward Murray and Dorothy Berard; her ten grandchildren, Meghan Murray, David Murray, Michael R. Murray, Joshua Murray, Jason Murray, Karalyn Thayer, Melissa Kirchner, Michael J. Murray Jr, Artemis Murray and Benjamin Murray; her seven great-grandchildren, James, Gaston, Maxwell, Lucas, Ronan, Colin, and Colten. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and their families.

Following Cremation, a Memorial Gathering will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (Rt28) West Bridgewater on Monday, July 22rd from 5:00PM-7:00PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul on Tuesday, July 23rd at 11:00AM in St. John Church, 210 Central St., East Bridgewater. Interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:15PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
