Louise Lyola Davenport, 88, of Carver, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026. Born in Brockton on December 18, 1937, she was the daughter of the late George Sr. and Madeline Gilbert. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Davenport Sr., and her siblings: Isabelle Lapham, George Gilbert Jr., Sgt. John Gilbert (BPD), and Claire Walsh.
A 1955 graduate of Brockton High School, Louise worked for many years in retail, but her true life’s work was nurturing those she loved. A devoted Catholic, her faith guided her lifelong compassion, generosity, and selflessness.
Louise’s family was the center of her world. She leaves behind her children: Debra Reid (Donald Sr.) of Carver; Denise Davenport of Brockton; John Davenport (Susan Manning) of Plymouth; and Fred Davenport (Daria) of New Hampshire. She was also the proud and devoted grandmother of 13 (predeceased by her grandson, Maurice Croft) and the adored great-grandmother of 18. Louise treasured every moment spent helping raise and care for the younger generations, creating bonds and beautiful memories that will be cherished forever.
Louise found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: tending to her flowers, sitting on the front porch, cooking family meals, playing cards, and solving word searches. Known for her warm heart and gentle spirit, she was a trusted confidante who offered wisdom, comfort, and unconditional love to everyone she met.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Louise’s life on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Conley Funeral Home (138 Belmont Street, Brockton, MA), 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Louise’s memory to Shriners Children’s, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the ASPCA—organizations that reflected her deep love for children and animals.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear."
