Michael Desmond Mahoney, 52, of Brockton passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 14th 2022. He was the loving husband of Carolyn M. (Nickerson) Mahoney of Brockton for nearly 30 years. Born August 16, 1969, he was the son of the late Desmond C. Mahoney and Joan M. (Brooks) Mahoney. Raised in Brockton, Michael graduated from Xaverian High School in 1987. He proudly joined the Brockton Fire Department in 1996 and served for 25 years achieving the rank of Fire Lieutenant. Michael was quick witted, honest and spoke his mind. He had the gift of gab and friends and family sought out his company. He was kind, had a giving spirit and would always be first in line to help others. Michael will be deeply missed by his sons, Patrick D. Mahoney and John R. "Jack" Mahoney; his sister, Susan Leydon and her husband Jimmie, and his brother, Kevin Mahoney; his in-laws, Robert and Joan Nickerson; his sisters-in-law, Doreen Nickerson and Christine Leonard and her husband Erick; he is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Amanda Leonard, Jimmie Leydon, Sarah Leonard, Joey Leydon, Christopher Leonard, Stevie Leydon, Tommy Leydon and Bobby Leydon. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Monday, February 21st from 2:00PM-6:00PM with a Fire Department Walk-Through at 1:30PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul in Our Lady Of Lourdes Church, 439 West St., Brockton on Tuesday at 11:00AM.
