Lucy Marie Eaton "Grammy" (Koperski), wife of Jack Eaton, passed peacefully in her summer home in Pocasset, MA on September 22, 2020 at the age of 86.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59-years, 4-daughters, Nancy Lyon, of Dennis Port, Joan Eaton, of Milford, Amy Landry, wife of Kevin of North Falmouth, and Susan Armstrong, wife of Russell of Moore, OK, as well as, 16-grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her brother Fred, sister Irene, and beloved daughter Julie Eaton.
Lucy was born on October 22, 1933 in Buffalo, NY to Joseph and Anna Koperski. She completed her degree in nursing from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1954 and was a dedicated nurse on the cancer unit at Roswell Park in Buffalo, NY. After moving to West Bridgewater, MA and raising her 5-daughters, she continued her nursing career at the Woodridge House in Brockton, MA.
She adored her family, was generous with her subtle acts of kindness and caring and never missed sending out a birthday or other holiday card (even if it was sometimes addressed incorrectly or missing a stamp!) One of her favorite pastimes was sitting on the porch of her Cape house surrounded by family and receiving visits from neighbors. She could also be found "messing" with her Ipad.
Lucy was quite a bowler in her day, she enjoyed gardening, going out to eat, shopping, knitting Christmas stockings for her grandchildren and dearest friends, bird watching, reading, and using her wisdom and intuition to provide counsel and comfort to others including the members of the American Lung Cancer Alliance Support Group.
She was a one of-a-kind, feisty and outspoken wife, mother, grandmother and friend who kept people on their toes with her sharp mind and "off the cuff" humor. She left a legacy of "Lucy" stories that will be passed on for years. She is already deeply missed.
