Luis Kurs of Brockton passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2023.

Luis was born on May 11,1933 to Carmen Rodriguez de Kurs and Luis Kurs Sr. in his homeland of Cuba. A dedicated son, brother, husband, father, and friend. Luis warmed the room with his presence, with his kind smile and caring nature. Emigrating from Cuba in the 70s, Luis worked at John Hancock retiring after many years of faithful service to spend his remaining years with the family he so loved.

Luis is survived by his loving wife Carmen Kurs (Morales) of Brockton, MA. His brother Rolando Kurs of Miramar, Florida and a sister Nelsy (Kurs) Villanueva of Dorchester, MA.

He leaves behind his eldest sons Luis Kurs III, Carlos A. Kurs, also his wife's children who he raised, Maria Vega, Raymond Sierra, Juan Sierra, Elizabeth Gil (Sierra), and Noel Sierra.

Luis was a beloved Papa who leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his great grandson who he raised since birth Elijah Vega and his faithful companion Prince (family dog).

Luis was a man of God called to serve the Lord, and was a pillar in his church community. There he leaves behind many cherished friends gained through his walk with the Lord.

Luis was always up for a conversation about his Love of God, the Red Sox, John Wayne movies, his garden, or life in general. He had a way of speaking that reminded you that the relationship you shared with him was important, and that you were loved. Sometimes these conversations were after church, some were phone calls, and others were simply a piece of strawberry candy handed to you from his office. Luis was a kind, loving, loyal man who will be missed by all who knew him. His loss is immeasurable in our lives.

Visitation will be held at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont Street, Brockton on Monday October 2, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, October 3rd at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street Braintree.
