Obituary

Mabel Elizabeth Jones, age 94, of Brockton, passed away December 25, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Jamaica, West Indies to Ruth Ann Palmer and Samuel Jones. She relocated to the United States from Jamaica in 1966 and became a naturalized citizen in 1972.
Mabel worked as a Nurse’s Assistant from 1967-75, after which she worked in the ESDA Department of New England Medical Center for over 20 years, where she retired from in late 1995.
During her retirement, Mabel worked with her daughter in a family owned Day Care business until she had a stroke in 2003.
Mabel leaves behind her only child Loris Kirkland; two grandchildren Michael and Shauntay Kirkland; six great grandchildren, Isaiah, Lashaun, Juell, Lydia, Vakarei, Vashii, several nieces and nephews, and her best friends Susan Curry and Doretha Simpson. Mabel was predeceased by her two siblings Pearl Paul & Noel Palmer.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday at 10am, followed by a funeral service at 11am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
